Nice Tips. I can manage to write the essays and articles, but struggling to speak in English because but i think it in my mother tongue and convert it into English. Could you please advice what type of practice would help me to improve the fluency.

I am Leon from Canterbury in England. I teach English Onlne on wizIQ and have courses on my site too www.englishtap.org. A lot of students practice speaking with me on Skype. The speaking practice is sometimes free practice, ie with restrictions, and sometimes controlled, either using topics or specific exercises. To develop competence in speaking the exercises need to contain the essetial ingredients of communication, which are a need to pass information to another person that ws previously unknown to them. We use exercises such as word describing (Sometimes called the Taboo game) - Join me on englishtap.org and if you are serious we can arrange a trial lesson. -

Hello everyone, I think speaking practice as Leon suggested is a second step in improving speaking skills.
In my experience, a tutor needs to asses, for example you Sid, what metacognitive processes you are undergoing and how to replace them, at your pace, with the one that would allow you to stop translating from your native language.
There are many things a person does when attempting to speak a second or third language, I mean internal metacognitive processes, that may be not adequately suitable. And they can be changed! And they need to be understood and thanked for being there, but changed for the ones that really empower speaking communication.
If you want to know more about this, you can try a session, first one is free of charge, and I will be able to say how you can continue your learning process.

Hello all!
In case you are interested, I have scheduled two classes on grammar: Noun Phrases in Description of People- aimed at improving writting skills but useful for other skills development as well
Hope to see you there!

I posted this in one other thread also.

If you enroll to improve your English speaking skills, spending 1 or 2 hours a day speaking English in classes will not help.

What you really need is motivation and discipline so that even after the class is over, you are constantly practicing the language in your day to day work.

The best way is to use your hobby. If you love cooking buy cooking books in English language. If you love sports or entertainment then read newspaper and magazines articles in English to keep in touch with language. This way you will also discover new words for yourself.

If you can write English then it will be easy transition to speaking fluent English. You can join free classes for English language on WiZiQ for start. For example, Stephen Jones "Headlines English Conversation" you get to speak on topics which make newspaper or TV news headlines.

Then you can upgrade to paid sessions.
